TASTING
Pure and lifted, with a clear dried-fruit note and honey sweetness; steady, never showing off.

A light bitterness that fades fast, sweetness direct, the body viscous and full of texture, the throat feel cool.
At about 1,700m, roughly 300 years old, from the April 2026 batch. Banpen's style is inward, lively and balanced between strength and softness, sitting between Lao Banzhang and Hekai: the fragrance is pure and lifted, a clear elegance with a dried-fruit note and honey sweetness, steady and never showing off. The entry is light in bitterness and faint in astringency, less fierce than Lao Banzhang, yet it fades very quickly; the sweetness shows directly, the body viscous and full with a strong gelatinous texture. Mouth-watering is swift and lasting, the returning sweetness spreading from the base of the tongue across the whole mouth; the tea energy is strong yet inward and steady, the body sensation clear without sweating. The high-mountain resonance goes straight to the throat, the throat feel cool and comfortable with no dryness, and the aftertaste lingers.

SPECIFICATION

- Type
- Raw Pu-erh · Workshop No.1 series
- Spec
- 500g · batch 2026.04.12
- Region
- Yunnan · Meng Hai · Banpen
- Craft
- Sun-dried: after withering, fixing and rolling, the leaf is dried in sunlight, keeping its activity — to drink now or to age.
- Water temperature
- 90–95°C; batches aged for years can take boiling water directly
- Brewing
- We suggest a 110ml porcelain gaiwan with 5g of leaf, boiling water in and out quickly: pour off at once for the first steeps, then lengthen each infusion. Young tea for freshness, aged tea for longer steeping; it endures many infusions.
