TASTING
Floral and honey aromas, steady; a quiet fragrance stands out, lingering long at the bottom of the cup.

A heavy bitterness that fades fast into a fierce returning sweetness; the body thick and firm, the tea energy commanding.
At about 1,800m, roughly 200 years old, from the April 2025 batch. Banzhang — called the "king of tea" among Pu-erh: commanding, full of tea energy, with a heavy bitter base. Floral and honey aromas are steady, the quiet fragrance stands out, and the scent lingers long at the bottom of the cup; the entry is clearly bitter yet fades fast, turning at once into a fierce, lasting returning sweetness and mouth-watering; the liquor is full and heavy, with a firmness and a marked tongue-pressing feel. The body sensation is strong — a few cups in, the body warms and there is a faint sweat. Of the words "full of tea energy," Banzhang is the measure.

SPECIFICATION

- Type
- Raw Pu-erh · Workshop No.1 series
- Spec
- 500g · batch 2025.04.25
- Region
- Yunnan · Meng Hai · Lao Banzhang
- Craft
- Sun-dried: after withering, fixing and rolling, the leaf is dried in sunlight, keeping its activity — to drink now or to age.
- Water temperature
- 90–95°C; batches aged for years can take boiling water directly
- Brewing
- We suggest a 110ml porcelain gaiwan with 5g of leaf, boiling water in and out quickly: pour off at once for the first steeps, then lengthen each infusion. Young tea for freshness, aged tea for longer steeping; it endures many infusions.
