TASTING
A lifted, complex floral-honey fragrance, a milk note and wild-fruit sweetness; the cooled cup holds fruit.

A clear rock-sugar sweetness together with a mellow body; a strong wild-mountain air and a clear body sensation.
At about 1,800m, roughly 100 years old, from the April 2023 batch — two years aged. Nanpo is the most "wild-mountain" of the Bingdao family; connoisseurs call it high in fragrance, full of energy and strong in wild resonance: the aroma is lifted and rich, chiefly a complex floral-honey scent with a singular milk note and wild-fruit sweetness, a lasting fragrance at the bottom of the cup that still shows fruit when cooled. The entry is harmonious and full, low in bitter base and light in astringency; the liquor is thick and full, carrying both a rock-sugar-like clarity and a mellow body. The texture is soft, fine and notably thick, the entry extremely smooth, the throat feel distinct. The tea energy is ample and the wild-mountain resonance strong; a few cups in, the back grows warm and there is a faint sweat.

SPECIFICATION

- Type
- Raw Pu-erh · Workshop No.1 series
- Spec
- 500g · batch 2023.04.15
- Region
- Yunnan · Lincang · Bingdao Nanpo
- Craft
- Sun-dried: after withering, fixing and rolling, the leaf is dried in sunlight, keeping its activity — to drink now or to age.
- Water temperature
- 90–95°C; batches aged for years can take boiling water directly
- Brewing
- We suggest a 110ml porcelain gaiwan with 5g of leaf, boiling water in and out quickly: pour off at once for the first steeps, then lengthen each infusion. Young tea for freshness, aged tea for longer steeping; it endures many infusions.
