TASTING
Steady and rich, with a penetrating quality; a wild resonance together with a floral-honey aroma.

A heavy, pure bitterness that fades fast; bitterness turning to sweetness, and mouth-watering that comes swiftly.
At about 1,650m, roughly 200 years old, from the April 2023 batch — two years aged. Lao Man'e is defined by heavy bitterness, strong energy, a full resonance and a fast fade: the aroma is steady and rich, never showing off yet penetrating, with a wild resonance and a faint floral-honey note. Bitterness is its soul — the entry is bitter as coptis, yet the bitterness is full, pure and clean, a "living bitterness" rather than a dead one: once it opens out, there follow a strong and lasting returning sweetness and swift mouth-watering, the mouth and throat sweet and at ease. The liquor is a bright gold, thick and full with a tongue-pressing feel, the tea energy very strong, the body sensation clear. Those who dare to drink bitter tea always end up returning to Lao Man'e.
Steady and rich, with a penetrating quality; a wild resonance together with a floral-honey aroma.
A heavy, pure bitterness that fades fast; bitterness turning to sweetness, and mouth-watering that comes swiftly.
SPECIFICATION

- Type
- Raw Pu-erh · Workshop No.1 series
- Spec
- 500g · batch 2023.04.20
- Region
- Yunnan · Meng Hai · Lao Man'e
- Craft
- Sun-dried: after withering, fixing and rolling, the leaf is dried in sunlight, keeping its activity — to drink now or to age.
- Water temperature
- 90–95°C; batches aged for years can take boiling water directly
- Brewing
- We suggest a 110ml porcelain gaiwan with 5g of leaf, boiling water in and out quickly: pour off at once for the first steeps, then lengthen each infusion. Young tea for freshness, aged tea for longer steeping; it endures many infusions.
