TASTING
Plum and floral-honey aromas woven with wild notes; a malt-sugar sweetness on the empty cup.

A heavy bitter base that fades fast, a swift returning sweetness, a thick and forceful body.
At about 1,500m, roughly 80 years old, from the April 2023 batch — already two years aged. Bulang Mountain has a very clear style; the key words are heavy, intense and full of tea energy: a rich, full aroma of plum, floral honey and a distinct wild note, often leaving a malt-sugar sweetness at the bottom of the cup. A heavy bitter base is the source of its "commanding" character, but the bitterness fades quickly and brings a swift, lasting returning sweetness and mouth-water; the liquor is full and weighty, the entry forceful and layered. The colour is a clear orange-yellow; the infused leaf is plump and soft. Its ageing potential is excellent — the longer it is kept, the richer and rounder it becomes, and the deeper the throat feel.

SPECIFICATION

- Type
- Raw Pu-erh · Workshop No.1 series
- Spec
- 500g · batch 2023.04.16
- Region
- Yunnan · Meng Hai · Bulang Mountain
- Craft
- Sun-dried: after withering, fixing and rolling, the leaf is dried in sunlight, keeping its activity — to drink now or to age.
- Water temperature
- 90–95°C; batches aged for years can take boiling water directly
- Brewing
- We suggest a 110ml porcelain gaiwan with 5g of leaf, boiling water in and out quickly: pour off at once for the first steeps, then lengthen each infusion. Young tea for freshness, aged tea for longer steeping; it endures many infusions.
