- Traditional pan-firing: flat and elegant, a tender green, high heat sealing in the pre-Qingming freshness.
- Water temperature
- 85–90°C; never pour boiling water straight onto the tender buds

- A glass or a white porcelain gaiwan, 3g of leaf. Water at 85–90°C (boil, then cool uncovered for about a minute); water first, then tea. Wait for the buds to unfurl and drink within a minute or two; refill when a third remains—fresh and crisp, never bitter.
