ABOUT · MULAN DIAN®
The name Dian
lifted out of the tea
MULAN DIAN® — the tea-food brand wholly owned by MULAN TEA STORY®. Real tea. Real egg.
The Chinese turn their tenderness
into dim sum
Dim sum — two characters that hold the softest part of the Chinese heart: take the best of things, make it one small warm bite, hand it over while it is still hot. Red and white, salty and sweet, steamed and boiled — all of it means the same.
And the tenderness of tea has always lacked a hot companion.
The Song whisked its tea
tea the lead — and the everyday
Whisked tea was the Song way of making it, and the Song way of living — in that age, tea was both a craft and a life measured in meals.
Today we let tea return to the everyday — from the cup to the table, from what you drink to what you eat.
MULAN TEA STORY®
carries Chinese tea to the world
The parent brand, MULAN TEA STORY®, carries Chinese tea out into the world — the name of a tea, raised in cups far away.
MULAN DIAN® tends to the other thing — that every night of coming home has one hot mouthful waiting.
One story, one lamp
telling her for a thousand years
The legend of Mulan is inscribed on the national intangible cultural heritage list, jointly by Huangpi in Hubei and Yucheng in Henan; shadow play is on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. MULAN DIAN® retells Mulan's story in new shadow play — an Eastern IP walking from the screen to the table. The above are heritage items in the public listings; MULAN DIAN® draws on the subject and interprets it, and is not the safeguarding body or a representative inheritor of these items.
The parent brand and MIAORANTANG®
at the same table
The parent brand, MULAN TEA STORY®, has carried Chinese tea to far places and wholly owns MULAN DIAN®; the sister brand MIAORANTANG® lends the sugar-free tangyuan the natural sweetness of its Miao sweet tea.
- MIAORANTANG®Sweet Tea
The Miao sweet tea, the 'immortal herb' — about thirty times sweeter than cane sugar, zero calories, a naturally low glycaemic index; tea-pigment antioxidants, and a sweetness that comes from the plant, not from sugar.
- A heritage craftHeritage
The sweet-tea crafting technique is provincial intangible cultural heritage, carried through six generations of the Miao family; to offer sweet tea is the Miao's solemn courtesy to a guest.
The story of a cup of tea: it leaves the tea garden, rests in a clean cold cabinet, and arrives as the mouthful that meets you coming home.
Some things
we do not do
A brand's measure lies not in what it does, but in what it will not.
- Never ground to powderWhole Leaf
Tea goes into the filling as whole leaf. Grind it fine and it is still tea, but once the leaf becomes powder, the returning sweetness loses its root — we would rather you chewed the leaf.
- Not sweetened with sugarNo Sugar
The sweetness comes from the Miao sweet tea of MIAORANTANG® — a plant's returning sweetness, not a sugar's promise. Sweetness can be given; it cannot be traded for sugar.
- Standards never left to shopsNo Drift
The fire, the ratios, the finished dish — written into equipment and process. Whoever cooks, whichever shop, whichever city, the same taste comes out. One slip of the hand and the taste scatters — so the taste is never left to the hand.
Technology, material, equipment, service
four dimensions, all kept real
A brand is not adjectives — it is four verbs you can check.
I
Technology
TECHNOLOGY
MULAN XU® reads taste on a four-dimension, binary structure: time, texture, rhythm, setting. Self-reported, weighted, decided by majority — it measures preference, not personality; results can be retested, and no labels are issued.
II
Material
MATERIAL
Tea goes in as whole leaf, never ground; vegetables are diced, never made into paste. Longjing with sweet corn, rock tea with carrot, pu-erh with sweet potato; the sweetness comes from the Miao sweet tea of MIAORANTANG®, not from cane sugar.
III
Equipment
EQUIPMENT
Six pots, each with independent timing and temperature control, within ±10 seconds; held at a constant 65℃ ready to serve. The fire is written into the equipment, and craft is no longer a variable — change the cook, the shop, the city: the same bite.
IV
Service
SERVICE
One person can hold one stall: 90 seconds to serve, 10 minutes to stock, 8 minutes to close. Service is not piled-up enthusiasm — it is process that catches people.
Every bite
carries the name of a tea
The dian of dim sum, landed on the product, is these four — three teas folded into a five-colour wrapper, one egg simmered through with rock bone, one zongzi boiled in tea liquor
- Five-Colour Tea DumplingsDumplings
Three teas, a five-colour wrapper — what you dip into is not vinegar but that tea's returning sweetness. 「Colours from the Mulan pattern, flavours from three mountains」
- Sugar-Free Tea TangyuanTangyuan
Sweet tea for the base, tea filling at the heart — a reunion with no added sugar. 「The sweetness is given by the tea, no sugar needs to promise it」
- Da Hong Pao Tea EggTea Egg
Slow-simmered in rock-bone liquor, every crack a road of fire aroma. 「A crack is not a flaw, it is the door the tea walks in through」
- Da Hong Pao Tea ZongziZongzi
Rice boiled in tea liquor, a miniature zongzi, one just enough, nothing left over. 「Dragon Boat Festival comes once a year, tea zongzi stay warm all four seasons」
THE POINT · One hot mouthful
Walk the world, come home to tea
come home to something hot waiting
