The AI Theatre Goes Live: After 151 Choices
Someone walked through Mulan's whole life in 40 minutes, then stopped at the 152nd choice.
The Mulan Xu AI Theatre is officially live. What follows are a few things we noticed after it went up, and what it actually is.
I. It Is Not a Test
Let us be clear about what it is. The Mulan Xu AI Theatre is an interactive drama: you step into a role, you are Hua Mulan, and walk from the night summons of the Northern Wei to the beacon-lit road home. Five acts, 151 choice points, seven AI companions, five endings.
Nor is it a game. No score, no leaderboard, no "optimal solution." None of your choices is judged right or wrong; each is only recorded, and at the ending it is handed back to you.
- How to enterRegistration required (email or phone). The theatre keeps your sequence of choices, so you can come back and carry on where you left off.
- LengthA full run takes about 40-70 minutes. You can go through it in sittings; your progress is kept automatically.
- AI companionsSeven of them, each with their own position and voice. They remember what you have said, and bring it up again in later scenes.
- Five endingsNot ranked as better or worse. They are five ways of living.
II. Four Things We Noticed After Launch
- Time spentCompletion was clearly higher than we expected. Most people, once into Act Two, walk to the end, which tells us the density of the choice points is right.
- Two kinds of people, the same daySome settle their route by the third choice and never waver again; others are still weighing it past the seventieth. The latter tend to describe their ending in more detail.
- The ones who stopThe group we think about most: they reach around the 150th choice and stop, then come back a day later to finish. In later interviews they all said roughly the same thing: "The last choice weighed too much. I did not want to click through it casually."
- The ones who walk it againA good number come in a second time and deliberately take the road they did not choose before. What they want to see is not another ending, but another self.
No score, no leaderboard.
Every choice you make is finally handed back to you.
III. How It Relates to the Quick Quiz
If you only want a first look at your outline, take the 5-Minute Quick Quiz: no registration, 12 situational questions, a result on the spot, covering 16 Mulan personality types and five dimensions.
The AI Theatre is its deep water. The quiz tells you which type you lean toward; the theatre lets you see, inside concrete situations, why you are that type.
- Quick quizNo registration · about 5 minutes · 16 personalities + five-dimension radar · a result, and you are done
- AI TheatreRegistration required · 40-70 minutes · 151 choices · resumable in sittings · five endings
- On-site labMulan Maison, Hangzhou · 3 hours · team decision sandbox · for companies and teams
IV. On the Boundaries
Mulan Xu is a cultural-inspiration and self-exploration experience. All AI characters on the platform are virtual, not real persons, and not professional psychological counseling; assessment results are a reference for self-exploration only and do not constitute medical or psychological diagnosis. Not available to minors.
Our first reason for making this is simple: MBTI asks how you think, astrology looks at when you were born. Mulan Xu watches what you do.
V. How to Enter
The theatre entrance is on the Mulan Xu main site. When you have walked it through, you receive a result card of your own, and a destined tea to match, which is what we mean by returning to tea after seeing yourself clearly.
TO TASTE · A CUP FROM THE SAME SOURCE
16 Destined Teas · Gift Box
Your result points to one tea. Finish the theatre first, then come back to choose; it is more interesting than choosing by feel.
